As July continues to unfold with interns, families and staff, we take great pride and thankfulness to live in our America -“One nation under God.” One of our great privileges is to instill in all those who come our way is the truth of “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (Psalms 33:12).

Samuel Adams, the great American patriot accused of being “the chief rabble-rouser” of American independence, wrote in 1779:

“A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader. How necessary then is it for those who are determined to transmit the blessings of liberty as a fair inheritance to posterity, to associate on public principles in support of public virtue.”

In October 1787, Wilber Wilberforce wrote in his diary: “God Almighty has set before me two great objects: the suppression of the Slave Trade and the Reformation of Manners.’ by which he meant to reform the morals of Britain.”

Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence, stated “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure….are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of the free governments.”

At the Christian Training Center International, it is our goal to assure young people and families that God’s ways bring righteousness to each of us individually, in our families and in our nation through Jesus Christ. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty!” (2 Corinthians 3:17). May the Lord help each of us to recognize the enemy operating within our land and once again embrace the truths of those who founded this great nation of ours on moral and Christian values.  “Anyone who has an ear, listen to what the Spirit is saying.”  (Revelations 2:29).

In Christ,

Susan Pons
