2. UNCONTROLLED THOUGHTS. The phrase “a double-minded man” means a “two-souled man”. There’s no such thing, but since the beginning of time, man has mixed into his mind the idea of God and the idea of satisfying himself though the pleasures of the world in his own flesh. Romans 1:21 says, “. . . although they knew God, they neither glorified HIm as God nor gave thanks to Him; but their thinking became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened”. The mind cannot go two ways at the same time, so it waffles back and forth from God’s command to the pleasing of the flesh, the OUTWARD EXPRESSION of SELF. Thus, no concentration, no peace, no satisfying of yourself. But the Bible says, “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You”.
3.PREJUDICE. Prejudice is PRE-JUDGEMENT. Often we find ourselves judging the weakness or sin of others, so that, by comparison, we can lift ourselves up in our own eyes. But God’s Word says, “Moreover, the father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgement to the Son”. Paul said to the Roman Christians that what we actually do when we judge others (express pre-judgement) is to condemn ourselves (Romans 12:3).
4. A FEELING OF UNWORTHINESS. Satan has loaded down your generation with a train-load of LOW SELF-ESTEEM. You think God is not pleased with your unstable lifestyle – in and out of Him. You haven’t come to accept and believe Ephesians 1:4, which says, “HE CHOSE US (HE SELECTED US OUT) for Himself” before He formed the Earth! We have ALWAYS been accepted by God, in Jesus Christ. And today you have been made accepted – IN CHRIST JESUS. People who have what the world calls an “inferiority complex” need to have their minds renewed. A lack of self-worth is a lie straight from Satan! GOD CHOSE US IN JESUS CHRIST!
5. NARROW-MINDED. Can you receive other people’s opinions when they are not in entire agreement with you own? If not, you need a renewal of your mind! “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself”. That’s Paul’s word to the legalized leadership of the church Galatia (Galatians 6:3). Often, out of our UNRENEWED MINDS, we make judgements of others based either on personality differences or on our faithfulness to the Lord and His word. God makes it very clear in Scripture that we are not to make comparisons of ourselves with other people – especially our own brothers or sisters. In Galatians 6:4 you can read this, “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself with somebody else”.
Listen to this (James 1:17): “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows”.
