7. OUR OWN CHURCH. These things I am telling you about are in no order of importance, and one of the most important functions going on here at The Inn is the regular meetings of the Franklin covenant Church,  of which Larry and I are elders, along with . . . Pastor Robert Enloe. The Ministry of The Inn is actually an outreach from this church, and all the people within the body make major contributions to the activities here. As a staff for The Inn, we have never had a salaried people serving. It has always been a cooperative effort of all those who are a part of the church. The church is a group of home-cell groups who meet regularly each week. Then the entire body comes together every Sunday morning for worship, fellowship, and teaching, as well as to receive the ministry the Lord is raising up at that time. We trust that we are becoming what Paul said the church at Thessalonica was supposed to be: “A model for all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia”.

8. OUR HOME.  For Sally and me, one of the most exciting things that has happened in a long time is moving into our own house! The Lord has seen fit to raise up a lovely home right here on the property of The Inn, including a private office where we can be working quietly before the Lord, in all of the many things He has us doing. After living without our own furniture for over 13 years, it has been something to gather it altogether and again under one roof! For 8 years, we lived in one room at The Inn, and it is good to be so close, yet to have our own private home for a change.

Back in the spring, I had to be submitted to emergency surgery, and I find that it is extremely helpful to be able to set myself apart when the need to do so arises. And the home with the most magnificent view is a big help in this regard. . . .

There are several other matters which we will add in a sort of summary. We have spread out in so many directions that we could make this letter far too long for you to be able to read! For instance, we are still being invited to travel a lot and teach in churches and conferences in this country. Later this month for example, Sally will join Beverly LaHaye and Ann McKay as [one of] the three main speakers at the C.B.U. Women’s Conference at Ridgecrest. Then in February, the two of us will again be among the leaders at the C.B.U. Couples Retreat at Montreat. Another matter to report: we are having to computerize our mail-outs, so we are moving towards the purchase of this kind of equipment in the immediate future. Finally, it seems the Lord may be directing us to writing a book based on the unique type of teachings we do for young people and for young families. PRAY WITH US DILIGENTLY on this subject. It is a time-consuming project!

As you can see, we are NOT drifting! We have seen some very specific things the Lord is asking of us, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, and you our friends, we believe the Lord will continue what He began 15 years ago. He promised a very real blessing to EVERYONE who came into this place,  IF we were obedient! That’s a large order, but we intend to keep it. PRAY FOR US!
