How wonderful to know that we CAN count on our Lord! Please join us in this mornings devotion written by Susan Pons and feel free to comment below!
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:17)
How was it that David received such a revelation? Well, David was on the run from Saul, his covenant brother, Jonathan’s, father. It was a tragic relationship, but, David’s covenant relationship with the Lord was the one that delivered him time and time again.
Don’t you just love the human happenings of men and women in Bible? King David, an adulterer and murderer; Moses, a murderer and one who lost his temper with God; Tamar, dressed as a prostitute, she coerced her father-in-law, Judah, to have sex with her and she bore twin sons…one of the sons a direct lineage to Jesus; Jonah, disobeyed God and ran from Him, yet God forgave Jonah and used him to spread the message of God’s love and forgiveness to the Ninevites. The Apostle Paul, a murderer of God’s people; Simon Peter, denied Jesus three times yet God forgave him and built His Church upon Peter, the Rock. Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall (1 Cor. 10:12). God has always loved, forgiven, and continued to use fallen men and women to be examples of the love of God.
Every day they pass me by
I can see it in their eyes
Empty people filled with care
Headed who knows where?
On they go through private pain
Living fear to fear
Laughter hides their silent cries
Only Jesus hears
We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right
What could be too great a cost
For sharing life with one who’s lost?
People need the Lord
People need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams
He’s the open door
People need the Lord
People need the Lord
When will we realize
People need the Lord?
