Breaking News! Jesus rises from the dead in an incorruptible body!

The resurrection of Jesus is stunning. It isn’t to be just celebrated at Easter. It is the core of our faith. We must celebrate the victory that Jesus has won every day.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Matthew 28:5-7

One of the things I am reminded of, that we don’t emphasize very much on Resurrection Sunday, is the Jesus was raised to an incorruptible body. Unlike others who were resurrected, they would die again. Jesus defeated death.

For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. | Psalm 16:10 (NASB)

And again by Peter “Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And so, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay.

Acts 2:29–31 (NASB)

Death is not to be feared by the followers of Jesus. We shall live in a literal body just as real as the one we have now, for, says Paul:

We look for the Saviour, the Master Jesus the Messiah: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body.”

Philippians 3:20, 21
