Jesus is Alive

“They were puzzled, wondering what to make of this. Then, out of nowhere it seemed, two men, light cascading over them, stood there. The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? He is not here, but raised up. Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.”

Source: Luke 24:4-8

Why didn’t the repetition help? Over and over again, Jesus told those closest to him, that He would be crucified, buried and rise again in three days. Jesus didn’t hide this at all. Jesus is  clear. Jesus is specific. I guess, on face value, it was (and is) hard to believe. Who in their right mind would say such things? Well … Jesus did and it happened. Jesus is the truth!

Can I remember? They forgot what Jesus said. I live in a glass house so I can’t throw a rock here. I forget what Jesus says as well. Jesus is clear to me and later I think, “Did you really say that to me?”

Am we looking for Jesus in the right place? Now here is the good news. Jesus did what He said He would. Jesus died for us. Jesus was raised from the dead. Jesus is alive and not in a cemetery. We don’t have to look for Him. He shows up. Jesus is God. Jesus is alive.

Am I seeking a dead Jesus or an alive Jesus? Now this is the main thing about the main thing. Jesus “is”, not “was”. Out of my heart, I speak reality. Do I refer to Jesus in the past tense or present tense?
