Do God’s actions, like the sudden appearance of Angels, surprise people?

Guardian Angel

When I scan the biblical story, I can’t help concluding that following Jesus brings a life of surprises. Whatever plans God makes and however I’ve tried to figure out God’s plans, I’m constantly greeted with surprises.

I face turns in the story that I never would have anticipated. God’s plan again and again included things that would not have been included in the story if I had been doing the planning.

One of the reasons for this is that I tend to focus on outcomes. I simply want things to go well and turn out right. God surely does care about the end of all things, but he is graciously at work in the process as well.

Are demons real? Do they exist?

The Bible speaks of demons as real, actual beings. However, Scripture’s depiction of demons is very different from the popular concept of them. The Bible describes demons as powerful but limited and ultimately defeated creatures. They are angels who followed Satan in rebellion against God (Revelation 12:3–4).

The Bible doesn’t give many details about demons, but what it provides is enough to dispel typical myths.

17 Things the Bible Tells Us about Angels

Pastor Roger Barrier’s “Ask Roger” column regularly appears at Preach It, Teach It. Every week at Crosswalk, Dr. Barrier puts nearly 40 years of experience in the pastorate to work answering questions of doctrine or practice for laypeople, or giving advice on church leadership issues. Dear Roger,

Do angels leave feathers when they visit? Some people are telling me this and I don’t know what to believe.

Sincerely, Genebeth

Dear Genebeth,

I do not believe that angels leave feathers to let people know that they have been there. There’s nothing in the Bible about this, so I would discount what people are telling you. Nevertheless, the Bible tells us that angels have very special ministries both in heaven and on earth.

We seem to know very little about the existence and ministry of Angels. To most of us angels are more decoration than the reality. Angels appear on tombstones, the walls of nurseries, jewelry, Renaissance art, ordination certificates, Christmas cards, and Valentines.

Angels are usually fat and naked and have little bows and arrows with wings on their backs!

Our programs are like an immersion into a new language – the language of living in Jesus.  The goal is fluency in the language of relationships.  Programs share a sequential vision, building an understanding of relationships and family culture.  The foundation is an encounter with Jesus.  This encounter is the means for both insight and vision.  Encountering Jesus leads a radical change in living and relationships.

Do We Become Angels When We Die?

There are always lots of questions about angels. One common one is, do we become angels when we die? Danielle Bernock tackles this question. She is an international award-winning author. Her works include: Emerging With Wings: A True Story of Lies, Pain, And The LOVE that HealsA Bird Named Payn, and Love’s Manifesto. Her new book Because You Matter: How to Take Ownership of Your Life so You Can Really Live will be released fall 2019.

People believe all kinds of things about what happens when we die. One is that people become angels. Another is that we become flowers in God’s garden. But are these things true? Some may genuinely believe these things. Others may just be holding onto a nice idea while dealing with their grief.

Let’s dig into the subject about angels. Do we become angels when we die or not? How do we know? Where would anyone get the idea in the first place?

Do we become angels when we die? No. We do not become angels when we die. Humans are one kind of God’s creation, and angels are another. To say we become angels is to say we stop being humans.
