Is it time to think long and hard about the power of God?

Is it time to think long and hard about the power of God?

There is a time to think long and hard. That of course would be about what God has created. Just think about it.

Think about it long and hard. It is amazing.

The raw power of it all.

Imagine, then think about, what it took to create all that we enjoy and take for granted everyday. Come on, think about it.

NOW, think about it some more.

And, how mysterious is it that God could do all of this. We can’t imagine it. It is beyond us.

And, that God, lives in side of us. He can do anything in His World. He is in control of it all.

God is God.

By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being.

Our programs are like an immersion into a new language – the language of living in Jesus.  The goal is fluency in the language of relationships.  Programs share a sequential vision, building an understanding of relationships and family culture.  The foundation is an encounter with Jesus.  This encounter is the means for both insight and vision.  Encountering Jesus leads a radical change in living and relationships.

Heroes Semester is a 10-week residential, “family style” living experience like no other! | Participants ages 18-26 come with one purpose – to go deeper with the Lord. Learn more about our programs here.

God has a plan for us today. Do we know what it is?

Special Agent for God
Special Agent for God

God has a plan for us. Under His plan, we are to be special agents of Jesus. His assignments for us aren’t “normal”. They are special.

They are planned out just for us. They aren’t random and haphazard. How amazing is that?

God is good and God has a goal for us. That is for today and for our whole lives. God knows what He is doing. Our prayer is to be “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”.

Now that is some very good news for today and everyday. That brings some much needed grace and peace to our lives.

I, Paul, am under God’s plan as an apostle, a special agent of the Messiah Jesus, writing to you faithful believers in Ephesus. I greet you with the grace and peace poured into our lives by God our Father and our Master, Jesus the Messiah. Ephesians 1:1-2

May we understand the role God has for us and serve as His special agent.

What is obedience? What does that require?

Love and Obey

Obedience is a willingness to submit ourselves to the will of God and to put it into effect. Scripture emphasizes the necessity for us to follow the commandments of Jesus, gives examples and reasons why we should, and describes the rewards that will be ours for obedience.

There is a reality of being a slave. You only have one Master. Jesus is clear on this when he says you can’t be a slave to God and money (aka wealth). Jesus drives the point home in many places. Being a slave is different from being a servant. I am the slave of Jesus.

Is the peace of Jesus ruling my heart?

The peace of Jesus

The peace of Jesus

Some things just aren’t forced on us. We can have it or we can not. God isn’t just going to make us. That isn’t His way at all. Jesus is calling us. Will I answer?

Peace comes from knowing His love and doing what He wants. We have to let that kind of peace happen.

Jesus has peace to offer us like we have never known. His peace can rule over any other emotions that we have.

The phone is ringing. A text has arrived. The email arrives “You have peace from Jesus” we hear. A tweet shows up on Twitter. It is Jesus calling us to peace.

Now that is some good news. The message of Jesus is one of peace. No worry or anxiety. Only peace.

God’s goal is for us to let the peace of our Messiah Jesus rule in our heart. For this peace, I am very thankful.

Let the peace of the Messiah rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. | Colossians 3:15

May I let His peace have precedence over any other emotion in my life.

Why should we obey our government and leaders?

Tax ReturnThis is pretty straight forward. We are to be responsible. We are to respect our leaders. We are to pay our taxes.

God’s goal for us is to live responsibly. That is the right way to live.

It is easy to put our leaders down. It is way to easy to complain about taxes. That is not God’s way.

God’s way is to recognize that all governments are under God. God wants order and peace. We have a great role to play here. We are to show the world what God wants. They will only hear it and see it from us. We are to be really, really responsible.

Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order, it’s God’s order. So live responsibly as a citizen. If you’re irresponsible to the state, then you’re irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible. Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you’re trying to get by with something. Decent citizens should have nothing to fear.

Do you want to be on good terms with the government? Be a responsible citizen and you’ll get on just fine, the government working to your advantage. But if you’re breaking the rules right and left, watch out. The police aren’t there just to be admired in their uniforms. God also has an interest in keeping order, and he uses them to do it. That’s why you must live responsibly—not just to avoid punishment but also because it’s the right way to live.

That’s also why you pay taxes—so that an orderly way of life can be maintained. Fulfill your obligations as a citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders. | Romans 13:1-6 (The Message Bible)

I am bankrupt without love!

Bankrupt without love

Bankrupt without love

This scripture blows me away. There is a question to be asked. Jesus wants to know.

What is important?

  • Not what the economy is doing.
  • Not what I give away.
  • Not what I get.

I am bankrupt without love. That is the focus. Everything needs to come down to this.

God’s number one goal for me is to love. I am bankrupt without love. That is just the plain truth. I must focus on that every minute of every day. It isn’t always so easy though. Many days are just a whirlwind of activity. Lots of stuff to do.

None of it matters without love.

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love. Love never gives up.

Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Will we give up? These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times!

Here Today Gone TomorrowSometimes it seems like we just can’t make it. Yet, perseverance rules the day.

Even if it looks like things are falling apart, they aren’t. God is God and God is in control. ALWAYS!! FOREVER!!

Sometimes others can’t see what is going on inside. God is making a new life for us. He is doing it now.

Not a day goes by that God’s isn’t giving us everything we need for the day.

There are things that we see now that have no lasting value. They are here today but may not be 5 years from now. Or even tomorrow for that matter. Unrealized gains and unrealized losses. What is important is what lasts forever.

“This is my life work: helping people understand and respond to this Message.” ~Apostle Paul

Work DefinitionPaul made tents for a living. It wasn’t how he defined his work. His work was to help people understand the good news that God has for those who came into his life. It wasn’t even something he was talented at. It was a gift from God. He wasn’t qualified to do it but God gave him everything he needed to succeed.

God’s goal is that our goal be to one of helping people understand and respond to God’s message. My work is not what I do for a living. My work is to take advantage of the gifts He gives me and press on. It is His way in His world and that is good news.

This is my life work: helping people understand and respond to this Message. It came as a sheer gift to me, a real surprise, God handling all the details. When it came to presenting the Message to people who had no background in God’s way, I was the least qualified of any of the available followers of Jesus the Messiah. God saw to it that I was equipped, but you can be sure that it had nothing to do with my natural abilities. ~Ephesians 3:7-8
