Do you want to get well?

Do you want to get well?

Do I want to get well? Jesus is in the healing business. Jesus can heal me physically and Jesus can heal my broken heart.

Jesus wants to know, do I want to get well? It is the essential question.

Soon another Feast came around and Jesus was back in Jerusalem. Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there was a pool, in Hebrew called Bethesda, with five alcoves. Hundreds of sick people—blind, crippled, paralyzed—were in these alcoves. One man had been an invalid there for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him stretched out by the pool and knew how long he had been there, he said,Do you want to get well?

Joules and jewels … what is the power of the Kingdom of God like?

Our chief executive, Larry Pons, lays out the understanding of the power of God in His Kingdom.Watch this stunning message from God.

They did not know he was speaking to them about the Father. So Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own. But just as the Father taught me, I say these things. The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”

John 8:27-29 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

Jesus could do something, but He did not. Jesus chose not to do. What Jesus did do is obey. Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing. That is all He did.

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, the Son is not able to do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son likewise does these things. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing, and he will show him greater works than these so that you will be amazed. And just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son also gives life to whom he wants. The Father, in fact, judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that all people may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

John 5:19-23

This is the secret of power living. We can only do what we see the Father doing.

We must examine everything carefully. How do we do this. By the scriptures.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

Will we take Jesus seriously?

The religious scholars and the average Jewish person of Jesus time on earth thought they took “the Law”, what Moses wrote, very seriously. Jesus knew that Moses wrote about Him. He also knew they didn’t take that seriously and so discounted much of what Jesus had to say.

We read the Bible but do we always take it seriously? Jesus demands that we take the Bible and what He says seriously. It seems like more and more, some churches and the religious elite are discounting scripture and what Jesus says. We can’t do that.

It is a matter of life and death. God has a goal for us. We must take God seriously. God is God. His Word stands true for all time.

“If you won’t take seriously what Moses wrote, how can I expect you to take seriously what I speak?” ~Jesus

Have we missed God? Is anything left in our memory of his Message? Do we take his Messenger seriously?

Hear Jesus Voice

Hear Jesus Voice

God sent Jesus. Jesus is His plan. There is danger in missing all of this. We need to slow down and make sure we get it.

I don’t want to hear Jesus say to me that I missed it. I want to hear “Good and faithful servant”!

Jesus warns us. God’s goal for us is to hear His son’s voice. We need to be careful not to miss what God is saying to us. We need to take Jesus seriously. Jesus wants us to be saved.

The acts that Jesus completed are the message. Jesus lived the perfect life. Jesus died for all of us to pay the price for our having missed God’s goal (aka sin). Jesus rose from the dead into an incorruptible body. Jesus now sits at the the right hand of God and is charge of God’s Kingdom. Jesus is in total control.

We must listen for God. We must see His appearance. He sends Jesus.

“But my purpose is not to get your vote, and not to appeal to mere human testimony. I’m speaking to you this way so that you will be saved. John was a torch, blazing and bright, and you were glad enough to dance for an hour or so in his bright light. But the witness that really confirms me far exceeds John’s witness. It’s the work the Father gave me to complete. These very tasks, as I go about completing them, confirm that the Father, in fact, sent me. The Father who sent me, confirmed me. And you missed it. You never heard his voice, you never saw his appearance. There is nothing left in your memory of his Message because you do not take his Messenger seriously.” ~Jesus

How much time do I spend jockeying for position with others?

This is how competing looks to God

This is how competing looks to God

Jesus challenges us to stop being competitive. We are always comparing ourselves with others. It is a serious problem. It makes us feel better that we are better off than someone else.

We have all fallen short of what God has in mind for us. We miss the mark.

Worrying about how we compare to others has us ignoring God.

God’s goal for us is that we spend time on the right things.

The first thing is to love God. All else pales with this goal from God.

The second thing is to love everyone. This is a full time job. This will consume our day. This is the only direction we need from Jesus.

These tow things will get us somewhere with God. Jesus knew this.

We can’t ignore God.

“I’m not interested in crowd approval. And do you know why? Because I know you and your crowds. I know that love, especially God’s love, is not on your working agenda. I came with the authority of my Father, and you either dismiss me or avoid me. If another came, acting self-important, you would welcome him with open arms. How do you expect to get anywhere with God when you spend all your time jockeying for position with each other, ranking your rivals and ignoring God? ~Jesus  | John 5:41-42 (The Message Bible)

Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people live!

Dead and buriedJesus lives. He is resurrected. God is a God of resurrection. God is a God of life. In Jesus we have life.

We live a resurrected life with Jesus. That is His promise to us.

Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people live!

And live we do. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. When we believe in Him, we are buried in Him and resurrected in Him.

Jesus also clues us in that there will be those who live a resurrected life of judgement. We need to choose Jesus. Jesus give life to anyone He chooses. He chooses us.

Jesus doesn’t shut anyone out. Neither does God. They are both in a very good mood. God has handed authority over to Jesus. This is a fact. We can believe it.

God is God. He is good. He has a goal for us. We must choose to live it out every day. That is the resurrection life.

We must choose to hear His voice today.

“The time is coming when everyone dead and buried will hear his voice.” ~Jesus  John 5:28-29 (The Message Bible)

Will the dead hear the voice of Jesus? Will we all be resurrected from the dead?

Every person who has or will live on this earth will experience resurrection.  I know that we as believers understand the Christian resurrection that God has planned for His people, but you need to understand also that every human being who has ever lived will be raised from the dead and there will be a literal, physical resurrection of the ungodly just as there will be of the godly. There will be a physical resurrection unto judgment or damnation just as there will be a physical resurrection unto life.

All men who ever live on this earth will be raised from the dead.  When the body goes into the ground, that is not the last appearance of that person in visible form.  Eternity is not just a place for spirits, it is a place for resurrected bodies containing spirits.  The resurrection is the subject of this passage as you could easily see.  And it is in this passage that our Master makes the astounding claim that He is the one who raises the dead and then judges all of them.
