“If you reason with an arrogant cynic, you’ll get slapped in the face; confront bad behavior and get a kick in the shins. So don’t waste your time on a scoffer; all you’ll get for your pains is abuse. But if you correct those who care about life, that’s different—they’ll love you for it!” ~King Solomon | Proverbs 9:7-12 (The Message)

News flash! The wise will love us. God is in a good mood.

Jesus challenges us all.

“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”

King Solomon and Jesus know more than a thing or two.

Am I a student of good?

Seek good and find delight

Seek good and find delight

There are many things we can be students of. Seeking good is God’s goal for us.

God wants us to go after wisdom and good like there is no tomorrow. This is the main thing about the main thing.

How do we spend our time? What kind of TV do we watch? What are we searching for on the internet?

Are we seeking good and God?

Of course, there is a consequence to being a student of evil. It is sad but God warns us that if we seek evil we will become evil.  We will find what we seek.

It is our choice.  Jesus alerts us that there is a way that leads to life. That way is Jesus.

May we seek good. May we find delight. So be it.

“The one who seeks good finds delight; the student of evil becomes evil.” ~King Solomon (Proverbs 11:27)

Am I a loafer and lazybone?

Work

Work

This is a stunning insight from Solomon. God’s goal for us is that we work. Work is Godly. Work is important. We are not to be lazy. We need to learn how to work and to work hard.

God has a goal for us. Sin is missing God’s goal. There is good news. God has given me a new life in Jesus. I can work and I can work hard. That is the real deal.

The work He has given us is good and noble. I am working for God. I am passionate about working for God.

If we won’t work, there are consequences.

  • Our life will collapse.
  • We will go hungry.
  • Nothing good comes from being lazy.

Let’s get with it. There is a huge harvest out there for Jesus and we need more workers.

“Life collapses on loafers; lazybones go hungry.” ~King Solomon (Proverbs 19:15 The Message)
