Are we ready for Resurrection and Revival? Is it coming?

What about the Resurrection of Jesus? Is it foretold by Jesus Himself?

Jesus IS

We believe that Jesus, the anointed Messiah of God, was crucified in our place, to pay our penalty for missing God’s goal (aka sin).

We believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead after 3 days into an incorruptible body.

This was told to us by Jesus many times before it happened. We can trust Jesus.

Jesus is alive. Jesus now sits at the right hand of God, the Father. This is essential to faith.

What does the resurrection of Jesus mean? Can it bring revival?

Susan Pons speaks about resurrection and revival in nature, in the life of Jesus and in our lives.

Compelling evidence of the resurrection of Jesus

Scripture presents conclusive evidence that Jesus the Messiah was in fact resurrected from the dead to an incorruptible body. The Old Testament prophets predicted it. Jesus constantly reminded His disciples it would happen.

And it did! Jesus is alive. Jesus IS!

What does that mean to us? We have encountered Jesus. Jesus has defeated death and is our Master.

Jesus is Way to God, the truth and the life we need.

Jesus IS.

Is the resurrection of Jesus foretold in scripture?

Image result for resurrection of jesus

Scripture presents conclusive evidence that Jesus the Messiah was in fact resurrected from the dead to an incorruptible body.

The Messiah’s resurrection is recorded in Matthew 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-20; Luke 24:1-53; and John 20:1–21:25. The resurrected Messiah also appeared in the Book of Acts (Acts 1:1-11).

From these passages you can gain several “proofs” of Jesus’ resurrection. Consider the dramatic change in the disciples. They went from a group of men frightened and in hiding to strong, courageous witnesses sharing the gospel throughout the world.

6 Things Jesus Didn’t Die For

Here is some great insight from Jana Duckett, Ph.D. Jana is the Associate Director of Digital Marketing and Communications for The Catholic University of America. She is also a former social media manager and editor at Beliefnet.com. She’s a lover of God, people, and words helping others discover their “God-designed area of excellence.”

In Judea over 2,000 years ago, the world bore witness to both the single most horrific act in human history and the most incredible miracle within 72 hours. Men and women in Jerusalem watched, even if they did not know it, as humans laid hands on none other than God Himself and nailed Him to a cross.

Three days later, women discovered that He had risen again. In doing so, He saved us all from sin and Satan. He faced down one of the most torturous deaths ever conceived for us, for sinners, for those that killed Him. When He was crucified, Jesus’ death made the Kingdom of God available to His children again.

In order to once again restore to them the life with God they had lost, Christ was nailed to a cross and died willingly. Christians, however, sometimes forget exactly why Jesus died. The miracle is so all-encompassing that we believe it covers things that had nothing to do with Jesus’ crucifixion, but we can’t force our own willful desires as a substitution for God’s purpose and plan. Here are six things Christians can be certain Jesus did not go to the cross for.

Resurrection of Jesus

Resurrection of Jesus

This article (via His Resurrection Destiny | My Utmost For His Highest) from Oswald Chambers says it all. Jesus and His Father are so pleased to give us life. And not just any kind of life. The life and power of the risen Master, Jesus the Messiah.

How great is our God? So great he sent His Son to us so we can live a resurrected life. Now that is amazing.

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? —Luke 24:26

At the crack of dawn …

ResurrectionAfter Jesus was crucified, he was hastily buried as the clock was ticking moving toward the Jewish Sabbath. No work could be done.

So they had to wait. And wait. And wait.

It must have seemed like an eternity that long Saturday. On Sunday they were up and at it at the crack of dawn. When they got to the tomb, they couldn’t find Jesus body. And they were puzzled. I know I would have been as well. Probably more than puzzled.

But they moved on from being puzzled into belief. The angels explained it all to them.

They ask a stunning question. “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery?” Why indeed!

Are we looking for Jesus, the Living One? If so, we will find Him.

Jesus wasn’t there but raised up from the dead. And they remembered Jesus’ words.

Belief. Faith. Joy.

At the crack of dawn on Sunday, the women came to the tomb carrying the burial spices they had prepared. They found the entrance stone rolled back from the tomb, so they walked in. But once inside, they couldn’t find the body of the Master Jesus. They were puzzled, wondering what to make of this. Then, out of nowhere it seemed, two men, light cascading over them, stood there. The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? He is not here, but raised up. Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.

Does death have the last word on things?

Česky: Kříže - symbol utrpení Ježíše Krista a ...

Where is the sting of death? Jesus is Risen

Death has no power over us. It has been swallowed up whole by the triumphant resurrection of our Master Jesus. Jesus gives us life.

We know that “The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.” ~Jesus (John 3:36)

This is reality.

Does death have the last word on things? Not hardly. No way.

Jesus has seen to that. It is over.

Who should be afraid of death knowing what we know? No one. Certainly not me.

It was not following God’s plan and missing God’s goal (aka sin) that gave death it’s leverage. It doesn’t have that hold now. Jesus has given us, in one single victorious stroke of life, a life free from guilt. A life free from sin. A life free from death.

The old life of trying to live up to all the rules is gone.

How destructive was that? Way too much guilt for sure. But it is gone in His redeeming power of His death and the victory of His resurrection.

May we experience that gift every day. May we experience it today for sure!!!

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is missing God’s goal, and the power of missing God’s goal is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Master Jesus the Messiah.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57

Examples of the Authority of Jesus over Natural Forces

Image result for miracle jesusThere are so many amazing and supernatural acts of Jesus, revealing and confirming his Messianic credentials, and the coming of God’s kingdom. The miracles of the Messiah are to be seen as an integral part of his ministry, then and now.

The Greek word for miracle is δύναμις dunamis, doo´-nam-is. Think of the power of dynamite. It is stunning and amazing power, i.e. the power of the Holy Spirit from God the Father.

Jesus was dead. What would they do?

Jesus and an empty tomb

Jesus and an empty tomb

They had waited. It wasn’t easy but they honored the Sabbath. So much had happened and they were so distraught.

Jesus was dead. What would they do?

They did what they knew to do. They did what was required of them. They went to prepare his body for burial.

Our God had a different plan in mind. Through the mighty power of the Spirit of God, he raised Jesus up from the dead into an incorruptible body.

Not just for Jesus to die again but forever.

He lives.

He is risen.

God is God. Nothing is impossible for Him.

Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.

They left the tomb and broke the news of all this to the Eleven and the rest. Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them kept telling these things to the apostles, but the apostles didn’t believe a word of it, thought they were making it all up.

But Peter jumped to his feet and ran to the tomb. He stooped to look in and saw a few grave clothes, that’s all. He walked away puzzled, shaking his head.

Will we wait for Jesus?

Wait for Jesus

God’s Best Work

It is Holy Saturday. Jesus is in the tomb.

What do we do?

We wait.

We have remember the passion of our Master Jesus, the Messiah. We remember His suffering to pay the price for our missing God’s goal. And we wait some more. Joy will come from our waiting.

We don’t like to wait. We aren’t patient.

Miracles of Jesus raising the dead!

Image result for resurrection lazarus quotesThere are a number of examples of this stunning miracle in the Bible. Notably, 3 are attributed to Jesus. This is the pinnacle of the miracles Jesus would perform under the power of the Holy Spirit as the Son of God. They culminated in the resurrection of Lazarus who had been dead for 4 days.

In John 12 we learn the effect this had on those who knew Lazarus. The large crowd of the Jews then learned that Jesus was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead. But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also; because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus.”

Is the resurrection of Jesus evidence of God?

Good news of God

Good news of God

Jesus rose from the dead. That is amazing and represents the good news of God.

God is not dead. We stand against the notion because we know the power of God. We have great evidence that Jesus rose from the dead into an incorruptible body.

We are a people of good news. People are confused. They are looking to find the way. Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE! That is amazing.

Jesus calls on us to be a witness to the goodness of God. I can do that!

“The urgency to preach the Good News is as true today as it was two thousand years ago, even if some scholars have naively declared God to be dead, forgetting that they are dealing with a God who found His way out of the grave…”

~ Roman Catholic Cardinal Ivan Dias implores Anglican Bishops at the Lambeth Conference to stand against “moral confusion.”

Are we going to Jerusalem with Jesus?

JerusalemJesus destiny was in Jerusalem. God’s goal for Him would come to pass there. He would die and be raised from the dead by the amazing power of the Holy Spirit.

But notice how this was framed. He took the 12 aside and clearly said “We”. Jerusalem just wasn’t for Jesus.

The good news of the new agreement God has with us is that we have died and been raised to a new life in Him.

Oh my goodness. That is some very good news!

We went to Jerusalem with Jesus. We have shared in his death and resurrection. We have the power of the Holy Spirit, that raised Him from the dead, in us.

God’s goal for us is to live a resurrected life with Jesus.

Then Jesus took the Twelve off to the side and said, “Listen carefully. We’re on our way up to Jerusalem.” | Luke 18:31

May I see how I am a new human being in Him.

May I know that the old me was crucified with Him and the new me was raised up in Him.

What is God’s goal for us? Do I get it?

Good FridayJesus knew why He was here. He knew how it would end. He knew He would go through the worst time possible.

God’s goal for us is to be redeemed into a right relationship with our Father.

We have missed God’s goal. Jesus died to pay that price for us. He is resurrected to prove the power of God through that redemption.

What was the end in His mind?

Not the sorrow or the crucifixion. It was the glorification. He knew what He had to go through crucifixion to get to the glorification and for the sheer joy of it, he endured.

And so, we benefit from God’s new plan. We have gone through it with Him.

Jesus replied, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. ‘Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. | John 12:23-27

Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people live!

Dead and buriedJesus lives. He is resurrected. God is a God of resurrection. God is a God of life. In Jesus we have life.

We live a resurrected life with Jesus. That is His promise to us.

Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people live!

And live we do. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. When we believe in Him, we are buried in Him and resurrected in Him.

Jesus also clues us in that there will be those who live a resurrected life of judgement. We need to choose Jesus. Jesus give life to anyone He chooses. He chooses us.

Jesus doesn’t shut anyone out. Neither does God. They are both in a very good mood. God has handed authority over to Jesus. This is a fact. We can believe it.

God is God. He is good. He has a goal for us. We must choose to live it out every day. That is the resurrection life.

We must choose to hear His voice today.

“The time is coming when everyone dead and buried will hear his voice.” ~Jesus  John 5:28-29 (The Message Bible)

Will the dead hear the voice of Jesus? Will we all be resurrected from the dead?

Every person who has or will live on this earth will experience resurrection.  I know that we as believers understand the Christian resurrection that God has planned for His people, but you need to understand also that every human being who has ever lived will be raised from the dead and there will be a literal, physical resurrection of the ungodly just as there will be of the godly. There will be a physical resurrection unto judgment or damnation just as there will be a physical resurrection unto life.

All men who ever live on this earth will be raised from the dead.  When the body goes into the ground, that is not the last appearance of that person in visible form.  Eternity is not just a place for spirits, it is a place for resurrected bodies containing spirits.  The resurrection is the subject of this passage as you could easily see.  And it is in this passage that our Master makes the astounding claim that He is the one who raises the dead and then judges all of them.

Up From the Ground

I love spring. I think it’s fitting that winter’s barrenness is followed by the most colorful season of them all. It is a time of new beginnings, of freshness, a time of awakening. Sitting on our porch is a birdhouse which was built by one of my kids. As I walked by the other day, I glanced in it and saw eggs sitting there waiting to be incubated. Two weeks ago it was snowing and today there are eggs. Springtime is exploding all around us. Although winter will probably try to hold spring down or turn it back, we can be assured that warm weather will prevail.

What does this have to do with Easter? Well, it is no coincidence that way back during the Exodus, slavery was dying and freedom was bursting forth during this time of year. It wasn’t by accident that Jesus conquered sin and death during this time of year. It was God’s plan that a season in the story of mankind would end with the most crucial event in all of history. You see, the same way that germination causes a plant to come up out of the ground, our Lord rose up from the ground on Easter.

What does this season look like to me? It signifies the end of slavery to legalism. It looks like a fresh beginning in my walk with him. It is a time of growth. It is a time of victory. No matter how dark the barrenness of winter has been, new life is waiting for you. Allow the fullness of resurrection to enter your soul.

How can you respond to Him this Easter?

1) Yield yourself to His touch. Slow down and surrender.

2) Hear His voice. Quiet yourself, wait and listen.

3) Walk with Him. Fellowship with Him and walk in His ways.

4) Thank Him. For all He has done. For what He is doing. For what He will do. For His resurrection – and yours.

Experience new life this Easter.
