How are we one with God?

How are we one with God?

How Jesus allows us to be one with God. John 14-17 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/…

I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word.  May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us, so that the world may believe you sent me. I have given them the glory you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me, so that they may be made completely one, that the world may know you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me.” John 17:20-23

Finally, in Colossians 3:12-13, the Word of the Lord says, “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. BEAR WITH EACH OTHER. and FORGIVE whatever grievances you may have against one another….Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on LOVE, which binds them ALL together in perfect UNITY.

This time, UNITY means “FINISHER” – the same word as in Hebrews where it says we should “fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and FINISHER of our faith.” That means He wrote it, and He completes it! In between, it’s up to us who make up His Body in the earth to get it together, because He has only one goal, one plan in mind. And He’s not going to change His plan just because we are not walking in unity. It means WE must change! We’re not a finished product yet. We must give up our independent spirit to become ONE in spirit.

Now from Ephesians, let’s see how UNITY is “A TOTALITY OF RELATED PARTS”. In [Ephesians] 4:3 Paul says, “Make every effort [try hard!] to keep the UNITY of the SPIRIT through the Bond of Peace!” (emphasis mine).

The Singleness of Two

On our recent tour of the ministry in England, Ireland, northern Ireland, and Germany, Sally and I sensed the Lord was putting strong emphasis on a few specific words. One of those. . .was the word UNITY. It seems that in every place from Belfast to Munich, the Lord was shouting, “Unity! Unity! Unity!” So upon our return, I decided to study the word “unity” from the biblical standpoint.
